Amazon Prime users get excited because Amazon wants to hook you up! They announced Thursday that it will soon promise one-day delivery for its U.S. Prime members on most items.Since they will be raising the price of their Prime memberships to $119 annually they hope that by now offering one day shipping it will help entice more people to purchase the annual membership! No word yet on when the price increase will happen.
Amazon is also hoping this change will help them compete with Walmart and Target who have been hurting them with their same day store pickup. “It is a smart change, but it is also one that is becoming increasingly necessary, other retailers have really upped their game in terms of delivery” said Neil Saunders, managing director at GlobalData Retail.
Here in GR we could have same day shipping with the new 850,000-square-foot facility being built on 68th Street and Patterson Avenue SE, about four miles south of Gerald R. Ford International Airport. This giant new facility will bring around 1,000 jobs to the area!
